Choose the right session-ingestion workflow and understand what Canonwell preserves.

Choose a workflow

MCP is best when an agent is present. Canonwell Markdown is the first-class manual workflow. JSON remains available for compatibility and automation.

All paths converge on the same canonical validation and finalization service, so campaign state updates identically regardless of how the session was created.

Understand session history

A saved session is historical truth: chapter prose and structured events remain attached to that session. Current campaign state is derived separately for the next session.

Previewing writes nothing. Saving validates again on the server, checks ownership and conflicts, and updates state atomically.
